A History

LSMC is the creation of years of physiotherapy practice and sporting involvement. LSMC was developed by Australian Physiotherapist Glenn Withers and Elisa Stanko to meet the ever growing need for fast access to specialist sports medicine care. Glenn saw the need for a specialist sports medicine service that is available to all levels of athletes, serviced by sports medicine professionals who have actually been involved with the challenges of sport. Having been involved in the successful Sports Medicine Centres throughout Australia, Glenn saw that there was a lack of highly skilled sports clinicians readily available to athletes of all types in the UK. A true Sports Medicine centre, not just a name. Glenn's belief is that to truly understand the demands of an athlete, both physical and mental, a clinician should have first hand experence of sport. Sport is a culture, a challenge, a dream for many, and to truly understand sport, you have to have played it.

As the centres have grown, an elite, international team of physiotherapists have been sourced to ensure the level of care at LSMC is unequelled. We now have over 20 physiotherapists at our 3 centres. Today the London Sports Medicine Centre is the ‘centre of excellence’ for athletes of all levels.
