Jon Hawkins  - Osteopath

Jon’s interest in manual therapy began with an ITEC diploma in anatomy, physiology and body massage. Realising that he was literally just exploring the surface that manual therapy can offer Jon undertook a five-year degree course to become a registered osteopath. Since graduating from the British School of Osteopathy Jon has worked in private practice across London and Kent. Jon strongly believes that good health and movement are intrinsically linked and enjoys the approach of combining osteopathic treatment with Pilates as it enables his clients to maintain the benefits of their sessions.

Expertise

As well as treating the part of the body where the symptoms are felt osteopathy seeks to resolve the underlying factors, sometimes distant from the site of pain, that may predispose you to injury and which could potentially be maintaining these painful conditions. Jon’s postgraduate development includes ongoing study of cranial osteopathy, a very subtle assessment and correction of strains in the body’s tissues. These techniques can help to remove often very deep-seated blocks to healing. However, many conditions will also respond to more forceful joint manipulation techniques where joints strains are corrected with an audible click, often giving instant relief from pain and returning full movement to the joint. Jon has taken a particular interest in treating headaches, which are often related to faulty neck posture and cranial strains.

Personal Interests

Jon loves to travel, is currently reading just about everything Ian Banks has ever written and loves to cook for company as it combines food and friends, two of his favourite things.
